The Way of Relic : Squier '51 Project

Part-3: Aging the Maple Neck

Aging a maple neck is the most challenging part.

So here are the photos from my first try.

First try?
But I know you are hiding many "bad" relic necks
in your garage.
Oh No!...Did you see them?
Yes, with my own naked eyes.
And some of them look so fake and very funny.
Pleeeeeease forget!
They are my old practice pieces.
In fact, I've been testing
relic technique for more than two years using six necks
and about fifty wood blocks.

So far, three necks became victims of my stupid
un-repairable mistakes.

May the necks rest in peace
I will NEVER forget you
What kind of necks did you discard?
Ah.., well..
One of them was a Fender Japan. wait, was that Tokai?
And probably a USACG neck... No, I could be wrong.
Hey! You already forgot them!
So, this $150 Squier project is founded on those valuable sacrifices.
  Uh.. yeah.
You've started this project because you couldn't afford
a real vintage guitar.
Then you've already spent a lot of money on paint, tools,
spray booth and many other stuff.
ALTHOUGH...
you could have purchased a real '70s vintage guitar
with all that money, but I'm sure you won't regret all your
struggling because..
now you have a Squier.
.......

This $150 Squier.
